Hints and tips: Autumn/Winter special
This season sees an array of trends coming though from the catwalks. From glossy Goths and femme fatales to grown up metallic princesses. However, the general consensus is that this autumn is the return of ‘real’ make up. Gone are the days of au naturale and fresh faced and welcome back full on show stopping glamour.
Key Colours
BLACK
This season the fashion forecast is a total blackout. Without a doubt, black was the ‘it’ colour of the season. It was seen at all the key shows including Balenciaga, Lanvin and Viktor and Rolf. However, the most directional look came from YSL. Models strutted down the catwalks with pudding bowl haircuts that skimmed their eyes and matte black lips that created a sexy yet mysterious look. To recreate the glamorous goth look try nail colour in Graphite and Eyeshadow single: Extreme Colour in Charcoal.
Hint: A nude pink pout is the perfect accompaniment to black eyeshadow.
Also try: Liquid Line in Black and Dream Eyes in Really Black.
RED
For yet another season red continues to be the colour du jour. This season colours vary from pillar-box through to sumptuous red wines and cherries. At Dsquared lips were bright and matte, almost doll like. At Miu Miu they were Glossy and plumed up for maximum sex appeal. To get gorgeous red lips try Lip Colour in Vogue or Seduction.
Hint: Apply lashings of Goo-ooh Gloss over red lipstick to create full, sexy lips.
Also try: Lip Tease in Be Mine or Water Shine in Rosie Loves.
GOLD
Metallics are never far from the fashion radar but this season gold takes centre stage. Luxurious metallics swept over the eye created a glamorous and sophisticated look. At Versace, gold was mixed with shades of Charcoal. Chanel covered the eye area in gold, all the way to the browbone for a more striking look. To recreate this opulent look use Eye Shades in Golden Eye all over the eye socket.
Hint: Try other metallics such as Bronze to add depth to the eye area.
Also Try: Dream Eyes in Gold and Eyeshadow Quad in Latte.
Key Looks
GOTHIC
This autumn beauty ventures over to the dark side in a sea of jet-black kohl. Faces were left ghostly pale reminiscent of Wednesday Addams (from the Addams family). At Givenchy eyes were lined with precision and faces were left mute of colour. At Gucci, eyes were smoked out and lips were coated in nude gloss for a more vampish look. Try Complete Base in Light, Dream Eyes in Really black and Lip colour in Biscuit.
Hint: If jet black is too extreme for you go for charcoal greys and mix with silver to lighten the look.

GLAMOUR
Glamorous make up is back with a vengeance this season. Make up was bold and bright, almost theatrical. Fashion rebels Viktor and Rolf disregarded the ‘only focus on eyes or lips rule’ and painted eyes jet black and coated lips rouge. At Dior big hair and big lashes ruled with their sexy sixties theme. Bright colours were used and liquid liner created beautiful over exaggerated flicks on the eyes. Try Liquid Line in Metallic Purple and Eyeshadow Single: extreme colour in Azul.
Hint: Keep lips nude with this look, as you don’t want to look like a clown!

METALLICS
Loitering for yet another season metallics continue to be an essential party look. Apart from the usual suspects such as gold and silver, other colours such as pewter, copper and bronze also made an appearance. At Belstaff the upper and lower lids were coated with copper and at Daks a combination of pewter and silver was used to create an edgy look.
